"I'm gonna make a change..." |

Last Thursday, Gabe turned twenty-seven. I couldn’t figure out anything to get Gabe for his birthday, so I suggested to Gabe that I just get him new dishes for his birthday present and showed him some that I thought were nice. This was obviously met with the “you’re just getting a present for yourself” attitude. Instead, I got Gabe one of those mattress pad covers that you sink into. I know that Gabe hates my mattress and even though I hate soft mattresses, this would be better than being present-less and I’ll just have to buy those cool new dishes for my own birthday. Seriously, they’re cube like and everything! Part of the firm that I work for is moving to a Sugar House location and it’s taken up a lot of my time. A lot of people consider Sugar House a “gay district” of sorts, but I’ve always disagreed since there aren’t very many gay-owned/themed businesses there. After my first day working in Sugar House, I almost changed my mind. On Saturday, I was having lunch at Noodles & Company with BA when I noticed some very “gay” looking people. They were at almost every table munching down on their noodles talking excitedly with their hands. Two boys even looked like they were from a salon of some kind and I almost thought they were women. Then I remembered: There are even gayer people downtown. Has anyone else been to Nordstroms in the middle of the day? Or…how about the Gateway? In any case, I did like the Sugar House location. The interior of the office has an African-like design with decorative-bamboo and soft colors. It’s very fabulous and I can’t wait to have lunch at Noodles & Company again. Yum.
