On Friday night SML and I went to a pub with an architect gentlemen that SML went to high school with. SML and I were both Microsoft Fan-Boys in high school, although we both had very different extremes. I put up magazine advertisements of the PocketPC campaign “Can Your PALM do that?” in my locker. SML? He had a PocketPC and he USED IT. SML’s friend knew SML as the Microsoft Man and didn’t recognize him with a beard and an iPhone. People change, I guess. It took everything in me not to freak out on his ass when he said, “How was the conversion, I guess you don’t do a lot of drafting on a Mac.” And because I didn’t want to come across as a rabid dog, I didn’t immediately point him to this website or say, “Actually, once, I purchased this software for a law firm thinking it would do legal things, but it was really for Architects.” Yes, that happened. But that’s not the point. The point is that I was calm. I feel so much like an adult it’s scary.
